083121 Do You Know the Whole Life Story?

Change comes at us from every angle as people update and upgrade everything from their diets to their devices, seemingly every day. When we enter adulthood as a young professional, we never imagine that we are only a couple dozen phones or a handful of trendy diets from marriage, parenthood or even retirement. Diets and devices can be great, but not all change is good, right? At every stage of life, financially confident people know that they can embrace the good and safeguard against the not-so-good with solutions designed to do just that. Enter: whole life insurance. Not just your parents’ insurance, whole life can actually benefit you no matter where you are in life.    THE BEGINNING: YOUNG PROFESSIONALS    When we’re young and focused on our dreams, we rarely consider the possibility of an unexpected, devastating change. What would happen if you died prematurely? It may be unsettling to think about, as it would be very painful for your family. As

082721 Have you been putting off buying life insurance?

Now might be the time to get it done.   TEXAS , USA — Just when we would like to be carefree again, the pandemic is weighing on our thoughts. Recently, 15% of people surveyed said they’re likely to purchase life insurance due to the impact of COVID-19. Maybe this will be the reminder many people need. Stats say almost half of us have put off getting coverage that we know we need. One survey showed that more than half of us think a life policy is going to cost three times as much as it really does. And women are far less likely to have coverage than men. “Today life insurance ownership for women is 47%, much lower than the 58% of men who have coverage," according to a 2021 Insurance Barometer Study from LIMRA.   If you are considering getting life insurance coverage, now might be a good time   During the worst of the health crisis, many insurers restricted new policies, like not offering them to the oldest applicants, changing which underlying

082421 Life Insurance Isn’t a Waiting Game…

Americans can no longer make excuses for why they haven’t purchased life insurance. According to the 2021 Insurance Barometer Study , those who are uninsured appear to want more convenience in the life insurance process, citing that they haven’t been approached about it (46%), it isn’t offered through their employer (42%), and they haven’t gotten around to it (62%) as reasons they don’t have coverage.   But a silver lining to the COVID-19 pandemic is that obtaining life insurance has never been simpler. This means that no one… especially the 31% of people who say they’re more likely to buy life insurance because of the pandemic and the 47% who say they haven’t gotten around to it… has a reason to wait to purchase life insurance.   Plus, our data shows that people don’t regret purchasing life insurance. In fact, they regret not purchasing it earlier, with 39% of those who have life insurance saying they wished they’d purchased it at a younger age. These findi

082021 If This Devastating Experience Has Taught Me Anything...

When I was 17, my father lost his battle with kidney and cardiovascular disease. As long as I shall live, I do not believe that I will ever forget the first moment I saw my father’s once vibrant face in that cold and unforgiving casket. I won’t forget his lifeless and defeated hands, or how his pale lips would never utter another joke or speak to his grandchildren.   Even though the day of his funeral was undoubtedly the worst day of my life, I wish I could relive it just to be with him one more time. Since that moment, I have felt as if all of my grief and longing resides underneath my skin with nothing to relieve the pressure. I Had Lost So Much More… On Sept. 8th, 2016, I lost my voice of reason, my confidant, my cheerleader, and my best friend. Unbeknownst to me at the time, I had lost so much more. Upon my father’s passing, he left us with funeral and medical expenses that his insurance would not cover. Because he did not have any form of life insur

081921 How to Choose a Beneficiary…

A life insurance beneficiary is the person who can claim the death benefit after you pass away. You can name multiple beneficiaries and decide what percentage they each will receive when you die. Additionally, you should add contingent beneficiaries who will receive the death benefit if your primary beneficiaries have died.   Not everyone names people as beneficiaries. Some people name trusts. By creating a revocable living trust and naming it as the life insurance beneficiary, you can ensure that the money is used according to your wishes. For example, the trust money could be used to take care of children.   If you decide to name a trust the beneficiary of your policy, make sure to work with an attorney to structure the trust correctly. It’s also wise to work with a financial planner so that a trust is part of your larger financial plan.   It’s crucial to update and review your beneficiary selections regularly. For example, life events such as

081621 How Much Does Life Insurance Cost?

The cost of life insurance varies significantly depending on several different factors. One of the biggest cost factors will be the type of life insurance you buy. For example, a term life insurance policy is significantly less expensive than a Whole life insurance policy for the same amount of coverage.   Here are some of the most common factors affecting life insurance rates…   Age…   The younger you are when you buy a policy the less you’ll pay. That’s because your chance of death is smaller.   Sex…   Females have a life expectancy that is nearly five years longer than males, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. This means that men generally pay more for life insurance than women (except in Montana where insurers must provide gender neutral life insurance rates).   Health…   Your health has a major impact on your life insurance rates. The insurer will evaluate your past and current medical conditions in order

081321 How to Choose a Life Insurance Policy Type...

With all of the life insurance options available, it may seem complicated to choose the right one.   Start by deciding between term life and permanent life insurance. Consider a term life insurance policy if you need life insurance for a specific amount of time.   For instance, if you want insurance to cover your working years as possible “income replacement” if you were no longer around.   Term life insurance is also a good choice if your budget is limited. Since term life insurance provides protection for a specific amount of time, and it’s not a cash value life insurance policy, the rates will be lower than permanent life insurance.   As you enter different stages of life, your life insurance needs may change. Many term life insurance policies are convertible to a permanent policy. The options will depend on your policy and insurer. Term life conversion allows you to switch to a permanent policy without re-applying or taking a life insurance m

081221 Why is life insurance worth it?

Life insurance is absolutely essential if there’s someone you care about who would suffer if you and your financial contributions were no longer in the picture. This could include a spouse, children, disabled family members, aging parents or anyone else who depends on your earnings to make ends meet.   There are several different types of life insurance. But what they all have in common is that they pay cash to your loved ones in the event you pass away. This lets you’re nearest and dearest remain on firm financial ground even though your earnings have stopped.   From the mortgage to child care costs to the weekly grocery haul, you already know that life comes with many expenses. We all do so much to take care of our loved ones in the here and now, but many people don’t consider how those left behind would manage if the unthinkable were to happen.   Over the years, we’ve heard from countless people who were extremely grateful to have a financia
