WINSTON COUNTY - First responders have been very busy across

Winston County Friday, March 3, after a powerful line of storms moved

through the county mid-morning causing extensive wind damage.

This damage has been exacerbated by continuing high wind gusts

throughout the afternoon.

As of  3:15 p.m. March 3, approximately 42% of Winston County's

population was without power, but that number has been slowly dropping

over the past two hours.  Over 6,000 Alabama Power customers in

Electric customers.  The vast majority of Tombigbee Electric's

Winston County customers are without power.

Power crews are out working to restore power as soon as possible.

Dozens of trees are down across Winston County, and road crews and

fire departments have been out diligently working to cut the trees out

of the roads.

There have been some reports of structure damage, primarily in the

Delmar area.

The Alabamian has been out covering the aftermath of the storm and

will have a full round-up in the March 8, edition.
